FISTAT
Composition
Febuxostat 40mg
Description & Effects
FISTAT contains Febuxostat, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor used primarily for the long-term management of hyperuricemia (high uric acid levels) in patients with gout. Gout is a form of arthritis characterized by sudden, severe attacks of pain, redness, and swelling in the joints—most commonly affecting the big toe. It is caused by the accumulation of uric acid crystals in the joints. Febuxostat in FISTAT works by selectively inhibiting the enzyme xanthine oxidase, which plays a crucial role in the production of uric acid in the body. By reducing uric acid levels in the blood, FISTAT helps prevent the formation of crystals and reduces the frequency of painful gout attacks. Unlike some traditional treatments, Febuxostat is effective even in patients with mild to moderate kidney impairment. FISTAT is generally prescribed for patients who are unresponsive to or intolerant of allopurinol, the standard therapy for gout. It is taken once daily, and regular monitoring of uric acid levels is recommended during treatment. With consistent use, FISTAT helps lower uric acid levels, prevents flare-ups, and protects joints from long-term damage. It should be used under medical supervision, as initial treatment may sometimes trigger a gout flare before full benefits are realized.
