Vefix-200 contains Cefixime 200 mg, a broad-spectrum third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, ultimately killing the bacteria and stopping the spread of infection. Vefix-200 is effective in treating infections of the respiratory tract (such as bronchitis, tonsillitis, and pharyngitis), urinary tract infections (UTIs), ear infections (otitis media), and certain gastrointestinal or gynecological infections. Its dispersible tablet (DT) form allows for easier administration, especially in children or patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets. Most patients begin to feel relief within a few days of starting the medication. However, it is essential to complete the full course as prescribed by the doctor, even if symptoms improve earlier. Stopping treatment too soon can lead to recurrence of the infection and antibiotic resistance. Common side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, or skin rashes. Though rare, allergic reactions or more severe side effects may occur and should be reported to a healthcare provider immediately. Vefix-200 should be used with caution in patients with a history of penicillin allergy or kidney disorders, and only under medical guidance.
