Description & Effects
Verdocef-CV-Plus is a dry syrup formulation containing Cefpodoxime 100 mg and Clavulanic Acid 62.5 mg per 5 ml, intended for oral use after reconstitution with sterile water. It is commonly prescribed to treat a variety of bacterial infections in children and adults, including those affecting the respiratory tract, ears, urinary tract, skin, and gastrointestinal system. Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting the bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the breakdown and eventual death of bacteria. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that prevents certain resistant bacteria from destroying cefpodoxime, thus extending the antibiotic’s effectiveness against a broader range of bacteria. This combination is especially useful in treating infections where resistance to standard antibiotics is suspected or confirmed. After reconstitution, the syrup should be stored in the refrigerator and used within the duration specified by the manufacturer, typically 7 to 10 days. The bottle should be shaken well before each dose. Treatment usually results in improvement within a few days, but it is important to complete the full course to prevent relapse or antibiotic resistance. Common side effects may include mild diarrhea, nausea, abdominal discomfort, or rash. Always follow the doctor’s dosage and instructions carefully for safe and effective treatment.
